About

Dean is a consultant paediatric allergist and immunologist with more than 15 years of experience in assessing and managing children with allergic disease across both tertiary hospital and private practice settings. He has particular expertise in oral immunotherapy, especially for children with peanut and tree nut allergies, and has been closely involved in research, program development and clinical delivery in this area.

He currently serves as Director of Allergy & Immunology at The Royal Children’s Hospital, Melbourne, and is Co-Founder and Director of MACCS Medical Group. He is also a Board Member of The Buddee Foundation, a charity focused on food allergy research and awareness. Alongside his clinical work, he has a strong interest in leadership, service development and advancing care for children and families living with allergic disease.

After graduating from the University of Melbourne in 2001, Dean completed his paediatric training at The Royal Children’s Hospital, Melbourne, before subspecialising in Allergy and Immunology. He is an Honorary Research Fellow at the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute and has contributed to major research programs in food allergy and oral immunotherapy. He is also actively involved in the broader allergy community through his membership of the National Allergy Centre of Excellence (NACE) and the Australasian Society of Clinical Immunology and Allergy (ASCIA).

Dean’s clinical interests include food allergy, anaphylaxis, eczema, asthma, allergic rhinitis, urticaria and oral immunotherapy.

Outside of work, Dean most enjoys spending time with his wife and three energetic boys, as well as keeping active and travelling.
